On November 12th and 13th, in Reno Nevada, was the 1st ever annual WILD WEST BUFFALO STAMPEDE SHOW AND SALE.  On Saturday morning in the Reno Livestock Center, you would have seen 125 buffalo all from the western states, being auctioned for an average price of $1,800 each.  Buyers came from the surrounding states as well as Canada.  Star B Ranch, California's largest buffalo ranch was one of the sponsors, founders and contestants in the buffalo sale and auction.  Star B Ranch took home the 1st place trophy in the bull class division, as well as winning overall Reserve Grand Champion Bull.  Ken Childs, manager of family owned and operated Star B Ranch, is on the National Bison Association Board, and is also the first elected President of the newly formed Western Bison Association.  Ken, along with his wife Denice, has been raising bison for 20 years, and has been eagerly involved in the preservation of the American Bison with the help of his children, Amie and Jacob.  Star B Ranch is famous in southern California for their own, all natural, buffalo meat line, and award winning breeding stock.
